BisTrack stays on the ball for electrical supplies wholesaler

Bill and Anthony Oliveri implemented Epicor BisTrack software when they started their North London electrical wholesaler business, AW Electrical, in 2008. “It wasn't the best year to start a business,” says Bill! “But we have gone from strength to strength in the last seven years and have already had to extend our unit with a mezzanine floor. Early on we became members of the MIDA buying group (an international buying group of independent electrical wholesalers) that enables us to purchase at competitive prices. We had used BisTrack software at our previous workplace and knew how good it was so we never considered any other solution. I've been offered other systems since we went live but none can provide the full functionality that we have with BisTrack software and that we need for our type of business.”

AW Electrical is a single branch, family run operation. Brothers Bill and Anthony are assisted by their sister who manages the accounts and their mother also works in the business. There are six BisTrack software users in total.

“As a small independent wholesaler we pride ourselves on our impeccable customer service and always having what our customers want in stock,” says Bill. “We back this up with our in depth technical knowledge.”

Bill says that sales processing and stock management are both handled 'brilliantly' by BisTrack software! “The whole way the software is set up lends itself to what we do. The 'counter sales' screen and the 'find work' screen make handling sales and enquires quick and efficient, and the stock take sheets within BisTrack software mean stocktaking is a really smooth operation.”

The reporting functionality in BisTrack software has also impressed the team at AW Electrical. “The system's performance indicators and reporting means we can actively be on top of what is happening throughout the business,” says Bill. “Any information we need on customers, sales, margins etc. is at our fingertips. It's easy for BisTrack software to tell us which customers have stopped spending, who we are making the best margins from and what products are becoming popular or unpopular.”

It's crucial for electrical wholesalers that their ERP solution integrates with Luckins-the industry supplier, product and trade price database. “BisTrack software integrates seamlessly with Luckins,” says Bill. “Gone are the days of looking up trade prices in a book the size of a printer, now you can have most suppliers' trade prices on screen and integrated into a quote or sales order within BisTrack software at the click of a button. Also BisTrack software handles the Luckins updates for us-there are around three or four of these each month-which ensures we are always buying and selling at the correct prices.”

AW Electrical runs BisTrack software in a hosted environment. It's an ideal option for a young company and kept start-up costs down for Bill and Anthony. “It means we don't have the server with BisTrack software installed on site-it's hosted for us in the cloud. As well as the cost savings we also don't have to worry about the hardware or software as it's not on our premises. Epicor partner company, NIS, look after the hosting for us and that saves me a lot of time and hassle too.”

All BisTrack software users benefit from software developments made for, or suggested by, other users. AW Electrical are about to upgrade to the latest version. Bill explains, “We're looking forward to lots of new functionality and I'm planning two days of training to brush up my knowledge of the system to ensure we are using BisTrack software to its full capabilities.”
